Chapter 502 - 478: I’ll See It Through to the End
"Are you pretending to be stupid?" Ian Grant sneered, his gaze dark and intense as he looked at Sienna Thornton. "Hand over the dowry the old woman gave you!"Sienna Thornton simply watched her quietly.
Seeing this, Ian Grant shouted, "Don’t think I don’t know what patent rights the old woman gave you. Those things all belong to Mina! You, an illegitimate child, have no right to inherit! Give them all to me!"
Sienna Thornton heard this, but remained calm and unangered, retorting, "Are you not aware that children born out of wedlock have the same inheritance rights as legitimate ones? We are all descendants of the Thorne Family, so why can’t I inherit my grandmother’s estate?"
Ian had anticipated that Sienna would use the law to her advantage. She had come prepared with her responses, but at this moment, Sienna’s confident and nonchalant demeanor provoked her.
Why should Sienna Thornton take so much that belonged to Mina, yet act as if it was rightfully hers?
Ian was both jealous and furious, gritting her teeth and flaring her nostrils in anger, her expression ugly, forcing herself to stay calm to avoid attacking Sienna on the spot.
However, the more she forced herself to maintain her composure, the more restless and agitated she became, unleashing all her grievances through her words unabashedly.
She shouted at Sienna Thornton with a twisted face, "You never fulfilled your responsibilities as a descendant, so what gives you the right to the old woman’s inheritance? Huh? When the old woman was in the hospital, it was Mina and I who took care of her. Where were you then? Huh? How dare you, a bastard, demand inheritance?"
Even with Sienna Thornton’s strong mental fortitude, Ian Grant’s vicious curses provoked her to lose composure for a moment.
Her clenched fists and body trembled slightly. Simon Forrester noticed this and pressed his large hand on her back to quietly steady her body.
Simon Forrester looked at Ian Grant, not even bothering with formalities, and sternly warned, "If you can’t speak properly and continue to use such insulting and aggressive language, we’ll have to ask you to leave!"
Ian Grant shouted, "Am I wrong? Even if Quentin Thorne and the old woman were here, I’d still say the same thing!"
It was the first time Simon Forrester encountered someone so crude, barbaric, and unreasonable. Fearing Ian Grant might indeed act recklessly, he stood up, intending to drag Ian out, but his hand was suddenly pulled.
He turned his head, and from his angle, he saw Sienna Thornton biting her lower lip, glaring at Ian Grant, her gaze firm and unyielding, the fingers gripping his hand tightening, her knuckles turning white.
"You accuse me of not fulfilling my responsibilities as a descendant, but did you ever ask yourself why I never had the chance to show filial piety at the elder’s sickbed?" she asked Ian Grant.
Ian Grant was momentarily stifled, unable to speak.
Sienna Thornton let out a pale smile and retorted, "Do you think I haven’t confronted you because I don’t know about the past? Your manner of twisting and distorting the truth is truly laughable and despicable!"
These words drained the color from Ian Grant’s face, abruptly silencing her, and when she looked at Sienna Thornton, the fierceness was gone, even a bit evasive.
Her response confirmed the suspicion in Sienna Thornton’s heart.
Sienna felt a sudden pang in her heart, harshly causing a rift. She nearly ground her teeth to dust, her fists tightly clenched.
"You did such things back then, and now, instead of compensating or atoning, you are here accusing the innocent and snatching what rightfully belongs to them! Aren’t you afraid of retribution?!" The last sentence was almost shouted by Sienna Thornton.
Ian Grant was so shocked by her words that her eyes widened, and her face turned ashen, speechless, trying to manage her emotions with deep breaths.
But the lure of money, the desire to possess everything belonging to the Thorne Family, clearly outweighs the so-called karma, so once Ian Grant composed herself, she questioned again, "Quit rambling! Are you handing over the old woman’s patents or not?"
Sienna Thornton gritted her teeth, "The transfer procedures for those patent rights were completed on Friday. Even if they weren’t, I wouldn’t hand them over! You can give up on that notion!"
Hearing that the transfer was already done, Ian Grant was so infuriated that her whole body trembled, unable to sit still, standing up as she wagged a finger at Sienna Thornton’s forehead, "Fine! You won’t hand them over? Then I’ll sue until you do!"
"Sue?" Sienna Thornton raised an eyebrow, bursting into laughter as if hearing a colossal joke, laughing until tears nearly fell.
But within seconds, she quickly wiped the smile off her face, her expression turning harsh and resolute: "Go ahead and sue! I will definitively accompany you to the very end!"
Ian Grant declared confidently, "Once the lawsuit is filed, the funds in those patent-related foundation accounts, including any patent profits made during the litigation period, will be frozen! If you’re willing to relinquish the patent rights, I can give you some monetary compensation!"
Listening to this, Sienna Thornton stood up and faced Ian Grant, raising an eyebrow, smiling as she said, "You know about the foundation accounts too? Then you must also know I received a bride price of ten billion from the Forrester Family, right? Do you think I lack money? Do you think I’m afraid of having the foundation accounts frozen? Not only am I not afraid, but I’m also assembling a legal team specifically to handle this inheritance case against you!"
Ian Grant’s expression turned increasingly unpleasant—jealous, angry, and unsure!
Though she was the dean’s wife, she was practically a legal half-wit. On straightforward legal matters, she could barely grasp, but for anything requiring skill or other detailed support, she could only rely on her intuition to judge.
So being frightened by Sienna Thornton’s bluffing, she was a bit bewildered, just as she was preparing to insult Sienna Thornton with more bitter sarcasm, she heard Sienna Thornton say, "Moreover, once this lawsuit starts, I don’t mind exposing everything from back then!"
Ian Grant was so shocked that her face twisted.
She believed Quentin Thorne must have given those letters from back then to Sienna Thornton, who was now using them to threaten her. Her temper flared, with only one thought in mind at this moment: she’d go back and tear Quentin Thorne to pieces!
Ian Grant shot a vicious glance at Sienna Thornton, left an "I’ll be waiting," grabbed her bag, and turned to leave. But just as she reached the door, she bumped into Quentin Thorne, who was about to enter from outside.
Quentin Thorne looked rushed, yet upon seeing her, he seemed unsurprised. He almost immediately and forcefully clamped down on her hand, attempting to pull her outside.
Already filled with rage and eager to argue with Quentin Thorne, Ian Grant seized the opportunity to retaliate, shaking off Quentin’s hand, pointing at Sienna Thornton, loudly questioning, "Was it you who encouraged the old woman to give her the patents as a dowry? Huh?"
Quentin Thorne lowered his voice, "Let’s talk outside!" he said, trying to pull her away again.
Ian Grant refused to leave, and the two got into a tug-of-war.
Ian Grant sneered, "I knew it! You’re running here every day. Turns out that old hag is still quite charming, huh?! Back then, did you want to break off the engagement with me for this old hag?!..."
