Chapter 518 - 492: Wedding Day (Part 7)

"Where is the bride from?""Old Master Forrester says she has a Brimfield residence, but her accent doesn’t sound local..."

"So Old Master Forrester means the bride isn’t a native girl, maybe she bought a house or was introduced as a talent?"

"That’s possible. I’ve heard Jules is quite picky, how could he find a girl from out of town?"

"She is indeed beautiful, and her temperament is good too."

"This bride looks a bit familiar, like I’ve seen her somewhere before..."

"I also think she looks really familiar..."

"Could she be a minor celebrity?"

"If he really married a minor celebrity, wouldn’t Old Master Forrester be livid?"

"Could she be pregnant? Old Master Forrester might have reluctantly agreed for the sake of a great-grandchild?"

"It’s hard to say..."

"It seems men can’t resist beauty. Jules was so selective before, never liked any local girl, and ended up with an out of town minor celebrity..."

...

Meanwhile, the distant relatives of the Forrester Family were gossiping about the bride’s background. After talking for a long time, everyone felt the bride was very familiar, surely a minor celebrity seen on TV, but since the invitation seemed to be misplaced, they forgot what the bride’s name was, and couldn’t even Google what shows the minor celebrity had been in.

Everyone felt that since Simon Forrester had studied abroad for many years, his thoughts were quite Westernized, and he didn’t care about social status matching, so he married the girl he liked. The Forrester elders couldn’t resist the apple of their eye and reluctantly agreed.

But seeing Old Master Forrester’s attitude toward the bride during the ceremony, there wasn’t even a hint of reluctance. Instead, he seemed genuinely fond of this granddaughter-in-law.

Old Master Forrester, being shrewd all his life, always put profit first. If he didn’t look at the short-term, he surely looked at the long-term. Accepting the granddaughter-in-law, an out of town minor celebrity, he must have been convinced the girl was already carrying the Forrester family’s great-grandchild.

...

Over there, the newlyweds finished offering tea to Old Master Forrester and Grandma Forrester. Old Master Forrester pulled out two large red envelopes from his pocket, giving one to the grandson and one to the granddaughter-in-law.

The matchmaker, smiling, reminded them beside him, "Having accepted the elders’ red envelopes, the bride should change how she addresses them now!"

The newlyweds simultaneously bowed to Old Master Forrester, saying, "Thank you, Grandpa."

The bride was a bit shy, her face blushing.

Old Master Forrester, looking at the beautiful couple before him, was so delighted he lost his composure, exclaiming, "My Jules is tall and handsome! My Annie is beautiful, tall, and smart! My future great-grandchild will be amazing!"

The observing relatives had never seen an elder praise the newlyweds so publicly before, making everyone laugh. Even Grandma Forrester, always keeping a noble but stern face, and Zane Forrester, smiled.

The newlyweds handed the red envelopes to the bridesmaid and best man beside them, moved a couple of steps over, and stood in front of Grandma Forrester.

The two of them served tea to Grandma Forrester, who symbolically took a sip, and even wore a gentle smile.

Once the teacup was set down, Bianca Fordham, standing behind Grandma Forrester, presented a red scented wood jewelry box.

Everyone knew it was a gift for the newlyweds and held their breath to see what kind of gift Grandma Forrester would give the granddaughter-in-law.

The Forrester relatives knew that Grandma Forrester had quite an extensive collection of Qing era jewelry. From their point of view, if Grandma Forrester took out the most valuable, it meant great satisfaction with the granddaughter-in-law. If not...

Grandma Forrester placed the jewelry box on the table beside her and took out a diancui hairpin from it.

The Forrester relatives, though wealthy and having seen many high-end items, were still stunned by the hairpin Grandmother Forrester took out.

The golden prongs of the hairpin emitted a slightly historical glow from long years of collection; a majority of the "kingfisher feathers" on top were a vibrant, pure, and striking blue. The rest was inlaid with pearls, jadeite, red coral, agate, and other precious stones, exuding an ever-increasing sense of elegance and nobility.

Seeing this diancui’s quality, along with Grandma Forrester’s heirloom Qing era jewelry, everyone guessed this diancui must be one of Grandma Forrester’s privately cherished Qing masterpieces.

While modern diancui craftsmanship exists and acquiring a diancui hairpin isn’t too tough, the diancui given to the granddaughter-in-law was priceless because of its historical value, something money couldn’t buy.

Bianca Fordham supported Grandma Forrester to rise, intending to place the golden hairpin into the bride’s hair.

The bride, being tall, bent slightly in cooperation so Grandma Forrester could insert the hairpin into her bun.

With the hairpin in place, Grandma Forrester turned around, took a gold-lapis necklace from the jewelry box, and placed it around the bride’s neck.

Next, she fastened a round flower brooch embedded with jewels onto the bride’s chest. Made of a circular gold setting, it was inlaid with all sorts of pearls, jadeite, and gemstones, exuding generosity and grandeur.

Finally, Grandma Forrester took out a thumb ring and placed it on the bride’s right thumb.

The thumb ring was semi-transparent, with rosy substances twirling inside, so that from afar, the ring appeared to be a mysterious rosy red.

The Qing era thumb rings were mostly made of Hetian jade, but the rosy pink thumb ring Grandma Forrester gifted the bride was made of bixi, likely a tribute from the Emberstone Nations during the Qing era presented to The Royal Family.

Watching Grandma Forrester adorn the bride with four Qing dynasty jewelry pieces, the Forrester relatives, apart from their envy, were only left with admiration!

Grandma Forrester had adorned her granddaughter-in-law from head to toe. Though it was uncertain if these four pieces were the most valuable of Grandma Forrester’s collection, seeing Bianca Fordham standing beside her looking displeased, suggested if not the most valuable, they certainly held considerable worth.

Having placed the four gifts on the bride, Grandma Forrester then took out a gentleman’s thumb ring from the jewelry box and placed it on the grandson’s thumb, then held both their hands, saying with a smile, "From today, you’re family. Discuss everything, be accommodating, understanding, and work together to build your little home well!"

Sienna Thornton nodded with a smile and softly said, "Thank you, Grandma."

The newlyweds bowed to Grandma Forrester in ceremony.

Next were Zane Forrester and his wife.

Serving tea, giving a toast, and receiving red envelopes—everything went smoothly. At the final name-change phase, Sienna Thornton was blushing with embarrassment.

Sylvia Langley was easier to address, even though in the beginning they were at odds with each other, they had reconciled over the years and hadn’t argued in a long time. Hence calling her "mom" wasn’t difficult for Sienna Thornton at this point.

The challenge lay in changing how she addressed Zane Forrester.

Sienna Thornton previously had disagreements with Zane Forrester regarding The Forresters’ business. Moreover, Nolan Kramer had likely spoken ill of her in front of Zane, so up to now Zane remained distant and aloof.

Given their relationship, Sienna truly didn’t know how to change her address. After taking Zane Forrester’s red envelope, Sienna couldn’t quite utter the words "Thank you, Dad."

Simon Forrester noticed and, before Sienna could speak, quickly said "Thank you, Dad and Mom," and then immediately led Sienna over to the relatives’ side.
