Chapter 529 - 501: Returning to the Bride’s Home (Part 1) (Second Update)
Just when Sienna Thornton was blushing with embarrassment, Simon Forrester suddenly said irritably, "Alright, alright, hurry up and drink your tea, we need to go have breakfast!"Sylvia Langley also chimed in, "Not drinking? Do you want me to drink it for you?"
Old Master Forrester spoke up too, "Yes, don’t miss the auspicious time."
With so many people speaking up for Sienna Thornton, even though Zane Forrester was still a bit resentful, he had no choice but to grit his teeth, pick up the teacup, and drink it all in one go.
Sienna Thornton breathed a sigh of relief, hooked her arm around Simon Forrester’s, and went to the dining room to have some sweet porridge.
Just as they left the dining room, they found the inner hall already filled with people again.
The groomsmen and bachelor group had arrived.
Gage Grant, Logan Lockwood, and Jack Hawthorne looked like eggplants hit by frost, yawning non-stop, their dark circles almost rivaling Oreos.
The three of them sprawled lazily on the sofa, each taking up a spot with their own unique slouching position.
The other guys, though they drank last night too, seemed normal after a night’s rest.
Old Master Forrester was handing out red envelopes, smiling as he encouraged them to visit often.
Gage Grant finally received his red envelope, trembling with excitement, happily tearing it open, waving the generous amount in the cash check inside, and jokingly inviting Logan Lockwood and Jack Hawthorne for a spa night after the homecoming banquet.
Logan Lockwood slickly chatted where the technicians were beautiful, and Jack Hawthorne joined in the banter until Tobias Blackwood shot them a warning glance, making them awkwardly shut up.
Simon Forrester’s headache worsened at their chatter, and with a wave, Harrison Rowe and Gavin Gale hurried to get the three sprawled emperors off the sofa.
A convoy of ten Rolls-Royces headed to Sienna Thornton’s family home.
In the main wedding car, Sienna Thornton had called Aurora Buckley, learning that Maeve had already arrived at Melinda Linton’s place, exhilarated, she urged Gage Grant to drive faster.
Gage Grant loved speeding, and seeing Simon Forrester didn’t object, he sped up, overtaking several times on the way without fear of getting caught.
The drive that was supposed to take an hour was completed in just forty minutes due to Gage Grant’s speeding.
The ten Rolls-Royces parked in a row under the apartment building.
Sienna Thornton couldn’t even bother to take the wedding gift, grabbed her bag, and got off the car immediately.
Simon Forrester instructed Gage Grant to carry the sugarcane (the wedding gift), and followed Sienna Thornton out of the car.
How could Fourth Young Master Grant possibly carry sugarcane?
As soon as he got out of the car, he called Harrison Rowe to carry it, but Harrison himself was holding a chicken cage, with no spare hand to carry two meters-long sugarcanes.
Fourth Young Master Grant glanced around; everyone was holding something, except for Tobias Blackwood, who had empty hands, but he wouldn’t dare ask Eldest Young Master Blackwood to carry sugarcane, so he reluctantly carried the two dirt-caked sugarcanes unhappily at the back of the group.
They all took the elevator upstairs.
In the elevator, Sienna Thornton said with a slight change in voice to Simon Forrester, "I haven’t seen Maeve in so long, maybe half a year!"
Simon Forrester replied indifferently, "Don’t you usually video chat?"
She hugged his arm playfully, "Video chatting is not the same as meeting in person."
Carrying the sugarcane, Gage Grant casually asked, "Who’s Maeve?"
Simon Forrester didn’t answer, and Sienna Thornton was focused on the changing floor numbers and didn’t respond.
Gage Grant nudged Harrison Rowe’s arm with his elbow, "Who is she? A girl?"
Harrison Rowe replied, "Mrs. Forrester’s best friend, an original singer."
"The name sounds unfamiliar," Gage Grant chuckled, "Is there really someone in the entertainment circle I don’t know?..."
Just as he was speaking, the elevator arrived, and Simon Forrester led Sienna Thornton out first.
The groomsmen and bachelors followed, sweetly greeting Melinda Linton, Quentin Thorne, and Old Mrs. Thorne, offering various congratulations.
Quentin Thorne quickly started distributing red envelopes.
Gage Grant, being at the back because of the sugarcane, saw the front of the group receiving red envelopes, worried he’d miss out because he had no son or wasn’t a dragon, he nervously called, "Uncle, don’t forget me! Save one for me!"
Quentin Thorne was laughing until he saw Gage Grant’s unruly demeanor, so he tapped the last red envelope in his hand on Gage Grant’s palm before giving it, sternly saying, "You’re not getting any younger! Time to settle down with a girl!"
"I will, I will," Gage Grant leaned the sugarcane against the wall, grinning as he took the red envelope with both hands and nodded, "I’ll go find a partner tonight!"
Quentin Thorne ignored him and turned to greet other guests.
Gage Grant joyfully put away the red envelope, and upon entering the living room, he sensitively noticed something different about the room.
His sharp, practiced eyes searched around, finally identifying the problem as the short-haired girl hugging Sienna Thornton in the living room.
The girl was slender, not very tall, at most 165 cm, with short brown hair tinged with a smoky pink, wearing a loose dark gray sweater embellished with tiny white diamonds, black skinny pants, and black ankle boots.
She embraced Sienna Thornton, closed her eyes and kissed her cheek, then continued to hold her.
Gage Grant saw her face.
Her small face, with features not precisely delicate, but very fresh, with two dimples when she smiled, looked lovely, and exuded a sweet feeling.
As Gage Grant was lost in thought, Simon Forrester had already stepped forward to pull Sienna Thornton beside him, "Alright, time to serve tea to your family."
Sienna Thornton hurriedly invited Maeve, "Maeve, sit down for now, we’ll chat later."
Maeve smiled but didn’t join the commotion or find a seat, simply turned to the balcony, sliding the door closed, and placed a slim woman’s cigarette in her mouth.
Her hand searched her body for a lighter, only for a small flame to be brought to her face.
She looked up at the man offering the light.
The man was tall, with thick eyebrows, deep-set eyes, a high nose, and striking features, curling a roguish smile at the corner of his lips.
She straightforwardly retracted her gaze, lowered her eyes to the cigarette, and leaned towards the flame. As the fierce flame enveloped the cigarette, she drew her cheeks sharply inward.
Gage Grant’s throat tightened.
Maeve leaned her head back against the sliding door, staring at the void, slowly exhaling a white cloud of smoke, "Thanks."
Her voice wasn’t the usual soft and sweet of a girl’s but rather husky, which, Gage Grant thought, was damnably magnetic and pleasant to hear.
He couldn’t wait to hear how that voice would sound saying his name, begging him...
Some silent moments passed.
Maeve remained leaning against the door, cigarette in her right hand, left hand resting on her right arm, eyes tilting upwards, staring into space in a daze.
As if Gage Grant was transparent to her.
Gage Grant stood for a while, then moved closer, asking with a smile, "Are you a singer?"
Maeve didn’t reply, just flicked the cigarette between her fingers, as an answer.
Never before snubbed by a girl, Gage Grant was momentarily taken aback, but soon, an unfamiliar yet thrilling sensation stirred within his already mischievous heart.
