Chapter 659 - 630: On the Brink
Chapter 659 - 630: On the Brink
The atmosphere on site was tense and unpredictable.Even though Zachary Grant was smiling and had just apologized to Sienna Thornton with a friendly demeanor, everyone in the neighborhood who had known him for decades knew that there would be repercussions later.
Everyone was holding their breath for the Forrester Family.
Simon Forrester, with Sienna Thornton in tow, prepared to leave. Tobias Blackwood, Kevin Chaucer, and others followed, but as soon as they stepped out of the restaurant, they were stopped by a few bodyguards waiting outside. "Director-General Thorne, please step aside for a word."
Simon Forrester turned to look at Zachary Grant, whose smile had entirely vanished, and he was now squinting at them.
"Get the hell out of my way!"
Gage Grant appeared out of nowhere and, with a spinning kick, knocked down a row of bodyguards.
"These are my guests. How dare you block my guests, huh?!" Gage Grant kicked again, knocking some bodyguards aside, but they quickly got up and neatly surrounded Simon Forrester and his group again.
Grant Two and Grant Three tried to restrain Gage, but having been rejected and slapped regarding the marriage matter, Gage acted like a mad dog, snapping at anyone in his way, and the two brothers couldn’t control him.
The commotion at the restaurant entrance attracted the attention of the guests, and Zachary Grant noticed it and came out with The Eldest Grant.
With a single order from him, three or four bodyguards carried Gage Grant away.
Tobias Blackwood stepped forward, not wanting things to escalate, and said to Zachary Grant, "Uncle Grant, since the matter has been discussed, why do this?"
Zachary Grant smiled and said, "Leo, I saw you all haven’t eaten much tonight. Go back in and have something to eat. I’ll just have a few words with Director-General Thorne."
He seemed like a benevolent elder caring for his juniors.
Sienna Thornton frowned, observing the situation.
Zachary Grant had even prepared his henchmen tonight, seemingly planning to follow threats with force. From his incident of whipping his son’s face with a belt, it was clear that beneath his facade of an amiable man lay a violent core.
He probably wanted to speak with Sienna alone, most likely to threaten her into silence or force her to hand over the original letters...
With the Forrester Family, Quentin Thorne, and so many neighbors present, he probably wouldn’t dare do anything to her...
The two opposing groups stood face to face at the restaurant entrance.
Sienna Thornton noticed more and more people surrounding them. Upon closer examination, they were young men in black suits with crew cuts, looking like henchmen.
Their numbers cleverly seeped through the crowd, flanking Tobias Blackwood, Kevin Chaucer, and the others. With a single command from Zachary Grant, they could subdue Simon Forrester’s friends in the blink of an eye.
Sienna Thornton was acutely aware that the situation was unfavorable for them.
She tiptoed and whispered in Simon Forrester’s ear, "I’ll go talk to him. I have something to say too."
Simon Forrester tightened his grip on her hand, shaking his head.
At that moment, Zachary Grant suddenly lifted his hand, and within seconds, Tobias Blackwood and the others were restrained by henchmen on either side, immobilized.
Simon Forrester was also subdued.
Kevin Chaucer struggled and shouted, "Let me go!"
Tobias Blackwood looked at Zachary Grant, "Uncle Grant, isn’t this pointless?"
Zachary Grant chuckled, "You all came tonight to stir things up at the Grant Family, and now you want to talk about what’s right?" As he spoke, his face immediately turned stern.
Sienna Thornton was keenly aware that he was intent on dealing with them tonight. Her initial feelings of injustice morphed into a renewed sense of resentment against the Grant Family, fueled by anger.
She gritted her teeth, "Fine! I’ll talk with you!"
Zachary Grant, hearing this, raised an eyebrow and smiled, making a hand gesture to invite her, then walked deeper into the corridor himself.
Sylvia Langley and Old Master Forrester happened to arrive at the doorway at this moment. Seeing their daughter-in-law being taken away by Zachary Grant, they hurried to call Quentin Thorne.
Quentin Thorne ran out, saw his son-in-law and a group of young men held by henchmen, and immediately ordered in a low voice, "Let them go!"
The henchmen remained expressionless and unmoved, as if robotic.
Quentin Thorne promptly turned around, entered the restaurant, and shouted inside, "Seth Sutton!"
In the other room, Sienna Thornton was escorted into a study by Zachary Grant, who invited her to sit on the sofa.
Zachary Grant left The Eldest Grant at the door and began making tea.
Sienna Thornton frowned, watching him leisurely prepare tea on the tea tray. She glanced at her surroundings, feeling as if her neck was being gripped by a leader.
Sienna Thornton steadied herself, determined not to speak first.
Zachary Grant finished making the tea, used tea tweezers to serve a cup in front of Sienna Thornton, and said with a smile, "Annie, have some tea to warm up. It’s quite cold tonight."
It seemed he intended to employ a soft approach.
Sienna Thornton didn’t want to touch anything from the Grant Family, so she sat still, rigid in her posture.
Zachary Grant noticed and smiled, sipping from his cup, and through the thin white mist, he scrutinized the young woman sitting opposite him.
"Annie, how old are you this year?" he asked.
"Thirty-three."
"That’s when a woman is at her most beautiful," Zachary Grant said, setting down his cup and openly appraising Sienna Thornton.
The near-brazen assessment made Sienna Thornton very uncomfortable.
She sensed a hint of danger, starting to feel restless...
"The last time I saw you was when my sister fell ill, wasn’t it?" Zachary Grant smiled, his voice light as if chatting with an old friend. "You didn’t have a child then?"
Sienna Thornton gritted her teeth, "No."
"How old is the child?"
"Almost seven months."
Zachary Grant laughed, his hearty laughter echoing in the small study.
"That’s what I say, the beauty of a woman who has had a child is unforgettable." As he spoke, his gaze drifted over Sienna Thornton’s black trench coat.
The look lasted only for a brief moment, like a fleeting glance, but considering the conversation, Sienna Thornton vaguely felt that Zachary Grant had a disgusting intent in asking her over tonight.
She couldn’t sit still any longer and stood up to open the door. But no matter what, the study door wouldn’t open.
Zachary Grant leaned back on the sofa, crossing his legs, and beckoned her with a wave, "Annie, come over. Once we’re done talking, I’ll let you go."
Sienna Thornton growled, "Let me go! Or I’ll call for help!"
She vigorously shook the doorknob, but it was sturdy and showed no sign of yielding. Frantically, she looked up at the nearly impenetrable door.
Zachary Grant sat on a single-seat sofa, watching her with a smile, uncrossing his legs, and patting his thigh with his right hand, "Annie, come sit here."
Sienna Thornton’s stomach churned, almost pushing her to the brink of vomiting.
Zachary Grant laughed, "It’s just the two of us here, so I’ll be direct. If you want to become a more powerful woman, you might consider siding with me. You saw what happened tonight; even if Jules called in those friends, nothing would change. Whatever you want, as long as you ask me, I can give you... money, power, and what you want most... an apology from my father."
