Chapter 916: A New Dawn

Chapter 916: A New Dawn

Jason’s rune suddenly vanished. It wasn’t as if the rune was cut off or disconnected from Jason’s mana! Jason felt like the rune literally vanished from existence! Jason couldn’t feel the rune at all through his magic link! The Legion subordinate who had been following the Mind Apostle also stopped in shock as the Mind Apostle simply vanished into thin air!

’What the hell? This doesn’t make any sense. You don’t just vanish without a trace.’

Jason was obviously confused by what was going on, and Jason’s mind began to race as he began thinking of all the possibilities that could cause something like this! Did the Mind Apostle have some sort of alternate dimension that allowed him to vanish? Or maybe...

Jason’s eyes snapped open as he suddenly realised what the likely explanation was! Jason had already suspected that there was someone strong backing the Mind Apostle when he appeared in this world. The Dimensional Tear that the Mind Apostle came through didn’t have any mana flowing from it, so the most likely scenario is that there is another Arcane Arts user supporting the Mind Apostle! And from the things Jason had seen, it was most likely either the user of the Arcane Art of Space or the user of the Arcane Art of Reality.

Those are the only two Arcane Arts that could open a portal like what Jason had seen today, and they were the only Arcane Arts that could make the Mind Art’s user vanish like this!

Once Jason realised that there was more than one Arcane Arts user working together, Jason’s mind travelled back to the message he had received from his father in the [Book of the Apocalypse]! In there, Richard had spoken about the [Court of Apostles], a dangerous group of Arcane Art users that were trying to start another war. Jason began to wonder if that group had anything to do with this, but Jason frowned as he thought back to his conversation with the Mind Apostle. The Mind Apostle didn’t sound like he had any grand goal involving world domination, and he didn’t sound like he was working with anyone either. It was as if the Mind Apostle’s only goal right now was to somehow defeat Jason! Jason wasn’t a hundred percent sure, but he had a feeling that the Mind Apostle’s goal was completely different from what the other members of the Court of Apostles were trying to accomplish!

’My King, what should I do now?’

Jason’s subordinate reached out to him curiously as she wondered what she was meant to do now that the Mind Arts user had vanished and Jason just told her to stay on that world for now.

’Search the area a few times and make sure that he’s really gone, and if you don’t find anything, then wait and see if he shows up again. I’ll call you back when I need you.’

’Yes, my king.’

The subordinate answered respectfully, and Jason cut off the mental link and started walking out of the cave. Jason knew that the person he saw here today was not the original Mind Apostle. That was only some sort of puppet or clone that he used to communicate with people far away. Unless Jason could think of a way to draw him out, then there was no way Jason could kill the real body! Jason needed to either lure the real body out of its hiding place or figure out a way to locate where the real body is!

’I need to find another Mentalist.’

Jason realised that he still needed to learn about the Mind Arts, and he would have to find another mentalist to help him figure out what the Mind Apostle’s likely powers are! Varina was the best choice for something like this, but now that she was dead, Jason would have to find someone else!

This thought stayed with Jason as he walked out of the cave, and Jason let out a calm sigh as he saw the rains had finally died down. The land was still flooded, but the fighting had stopped, and all the people who had been under the witch’s mind control had been freed! Now that Varina and her brother were both dead, Jason knew that the Honduran war was finally over, but that didn’t mean that Jason’s work here was done. There were other witches in this world, and if Jason left them alone, then Jason was sure the Hondurans would blame these new witches for what Varina had done. Jason promised Varina that he would do his best to make a new age for the witches in this world, and Jason was going to keep that promise!

To do this, Jason needed to figure out a way to give the witches a place to belong while making sure that neither the witches nor the regular humans would be able to start another pointless war.

’I need to start a magic Academy.’

Jason realised that this was the best option for the Hondurans. With a Magic Academy, Jason would create a space where any witch could go to learn magic while giving the witches some form of fortress that they could use to protect themselves. And since the Academy would be under his jurisdiction rather than the King’s, Jason could look out for the witches and also keep them in check.

Jason stood up as he made up his mind! Jason had already been planning to start an Academy on Earth to replace Core City, so Jason realised that he could use this as practice to make sure he became better at running a school!

’I’ll have to get mages from other worlds to run the school and act as teachers until the witches in this world become stronger. I don’t know anything about running a school, so I’ll just send out a hiring message through the Elder Worlds.’

Jason let out a small sigh as he came up with a plan, and he hoped that this would be enough to allow Varina to rest in peace. This was a new dawn for the Hondurans, and even though Varina wouldn’t be here to see it, Jason would make sure that the witches of the world no longer had to be afraid to use their powers!

Over the few days, Jason had numerous meetings with the higher-ranking executives and members of the Honduran Royal Family to discuss setting up the magical academy for the witches of Hondura. There was obviously a lot of pushback from the higher-ups. They had just come out of a massive war against a witch, so the Hondurans didn’t want to do anything at all to help the witches since they believed that putting them in an Academy and teaching them how to use magic would only make it easier for another Witch of Calamity to rise up in the future! But Jason didn’t care!

"The reason the witch did all this is because of your own stupidity. If you hadn’t been burning her people at the stake, she wouldn’t have killed so many of you. I’ll be watching over all of you from now on, so leave the witches alone, and I’ll make sure the witches leave you alone as well."

This was Jason’s answer to all the executives who were complaining about the academy, and after they had seen what Jason was capable of, none of them could say anything against Jason’s decision! The planning and organisation for the Academy had taken far longer than Jason thought it would, and Jason had to stay in Hondura for far longer than he planned just to make sure that everything was done properly.
