Chapter 917: Wasted Potential

Chapter 917: Wasted Potential

During his stay on Hondura, Jason sent out his subordinates to every corner of the world to help out with the rebuilding of the towns and cities that had been affected by the flood and attacks. There were many towns that had been completely submerged in water, but thankfully, the Water Vipers were able to move all the water towards the ocean, and the Dragonborn used flames to evaporate a lot more water. It took only two days for the subordinates to completely get rid of all the floods in the region, and the Hondurans were finally able to start rebuilding properly! In that time, Jason had met with the group of women who were the last of the witches in Hondura! These witches had been hiding in a small forest far away from the Honduran cities, and although it only took Jason a few days to find them, Jason knew that no one else would be able to find this place easily! The elder of the witches was an older woman named Xena. She had a massive scar running across her face, and there was an air of distrust around her that showed she did not open up easily to anyone! Jason had introduced himself as the Overlord of this domain, and although the witches were all terrified of him since he was a man, they had all been shocked by the fact that Jason could use magic!

From what the witches knew, only females could use magic in this world, so Jason was an anomaly that they couldn’t understand! It took a few visits from Jason to finally become closer to the witches, but Jason was finally able to convince the witches about the Academy he wanted to build and the new life they would be living!

"What happened to Varina. Did she die?"

The Witch leader Xena had asked Jason this question during one of their last meetings. Even though Varina was seen as a monster to the Hondurans, she was a hero to the witches, who all supported the massacre she had carried out for their sake! The witches all hated the Hondurans just as much as the Hondurans hated them, so there was no love lost between the two peoples! Jason told Xena the truth that Varina had died, and Xena had accepted things far more easily than Jason thought she would! Jason was sure that Xena would blame him for how Varina had died, but Xena only said that Varina was in the embrace of the Great Mother Witch and she was in a better place!

On the night just before he left Hondura, Jason was resting in one of the rooms in the Royal Palace after a long day of organising permits and overseeing meetings. The Hondurans had agreed to give up one of their castles on the outskirts of the continent so that the witches could use it to build their academy, and in return, the witches had agreed not to involve themselves in the world of the Hondurans at all in the future. If there were ever a witch born to a Honduran, then the witches would come and take the girl to their castle for education, and that is the only interaction that the two peoples would have! The witches decided to name their new academy Varina to honor the woman who fought for them, and although the Hondurans weren’t happy about this, they all agreed on the details and finalized the deal!

Jason was fucking exhausted!

[You did a great job, babe. I never thought there’d be a world out there that has so much division between mages and regular people. Don’t the Hondurans know that they could gain a lot from the witches?]

Jason let out a calm sigh as Gina’s pleasant voice echoed through his mind, and Jason knew that she was right. The Hondurans and the witches could’ve become one of the strongest worlds in this domain if they had agreed to work together. The Witch Slayers were all powerful warriors, and their generals would be somewhere around SSS Rank back on Earth. Meanwhile, some of the stronger witches had already broken through into the realm of the Titans! Varina had been around Titan Rank II in strength, and she had one of the largest magic capacities Jason had ever seen on a mage! Jason knew she would’ve given Stella a run for her money if they ever fought! If only the Hondurans could look past those differences, then maybe they would’ve been one of the strongest worlds, but it was too late for that now.

Jason spoke to Gina while staring up at the ceiling.

"Yeah, I think you’re right. But let’s give them a few decades to calm down. People can’t forget their differences so easily, but with enough time, I’m sure they’ll move past this. Maybe when things calm down, we can ask the witches to take some of the Hondurans into the Academy to learn runecrafting. It’ll be easier for them to work together if the children get closer."

[That’s true. Well, you shouldn’t worry about that. Try to get some rest, baby. You’ve earned it. Are you coming back soon?]

"Yeah, I just need to finish off one last thing, then I’ll head home."

Gina hummed through their link, and Jason raised an eyebrow when she spoke.

[You should go see Riyala, babe.]

"Hmm? Is everything okay with her?"

[Yeah, she’s alright, but I’m worried about her. One of her dragonborn guards came to see me the other day, and they told me she was overworking herself again. The recent trade deals with Minori are really pushing her to her limit. I’m afraid she’ll break down soon.]

Jason narrowed his eyes as he realised this was serious. If even the guards were this concerned about Riyala, then there was definitely something wrong. Jason told Gina that he would go see Riyala later, and Gina thanked Jason before she blew him a loving kiss and told him to go get some rest. Jason’s lips stretched into a grin once he heard that, and he spoke in a peaceful tone.

"Sure thing, babe. Love you."

[I love you too, baby.]

....

The next day, Jason had one final meeting with Xena, the leader of the witches, and King Triggan, the leader of the Hondurans. The meeting was just a formality since they had already discussed everything that they needed to talk about in the earlier meetings! This time, Jason just wanted to use their meeting to warn both sides about going against the plan that they had designed.

"I know you both don’t see eye to eye on anything. You’ve both caused great harm to each other, and I understand that. But I want you to know that I am watching your every move from now on. Go and live your lives peacefully without thinking of revenge or planning to kill anyone. The moment I see either one of you organising an attack against the other, I’ll intervene and wipe out whichever side is in the wrong. I’m not asking you to live peacefully together. I’m telling you to live peacefully away from each other. Is that understood?"

The scene was like a father reprimanding his two children who were always fighting each other, and the two rulers nodded to Jason respectfully as they accepted his terms. Jason still didn’t know if this plan would work or not, and he was sure that there were many people on both sides who wanted revenge, but Jason just hoped that the threat of his anger would be enough to keep them in check.

Jason left multiple low-level subordinates in the shadows in Honduras to watch over the people there and make sure they weren’t doing anything stupid before Jason finally left the world.
