Chapter 558: Shiki
Chapter 558: Shiki
Then immediately closed it. Lucian looked extremely satisfied.A few moments later, he continued.
"Everything about you became attractive to me."
His voice was calm. Yet every word carried sincerity.
Lana’s heart warmed. However, a mischievous thought suddenly appeared inside her mind. "Oh?"
She narrowed her eyes. "What if someone else had those qualities?"
Lucian paused. Then a smile appeared. "Who knows?"
The smile instantly disappeared from Lana’s face. "What?"
Lucian remained silent. Lana narrowed her eyes dangerously.
"So you’re saying you would’ve fallen for someone else?"
Lucian continued smiling. That smile was enough. Lana immediately launched herself at him. "You traitor!"
Lucian barely managed to react before she wrapped her arms around his neck. "You horrible man!"
Lana glared at him. "You’ve become so bad!"
Lucian looked entirely innocent. Unfortunately, Lana wasn’t buying it.
"I think you need punishment." Before Lucian could answer, she leaned forward and bit his cheek.
Lucian simply sat there. Completely unmoved. Seeing his reaction, Lana became even more determined.
A few moments later, she targeted his neck. Lucian still didn’t resist.
In fact, he looked strangely relaxed. That only encouraged Lana further.
One love bite became two. Two became three. Before long, Lana had completely covered his neck with her masterpiece.
Finally satisfied, she leaned back.
Her eyes sparkled with triumph. Meanwhile, Lucian merely looked at her with endless affection.
What he didn’t tell Lana was the truth. In his previous life, when he met her again, Lana had already fallen into despair.
She had lost almost everything. The once cheerful girl had become exhausted and broken.
At that time, she had even considered ending her own life. Lucian had remembered the little girl who gave him candy.
The girl who had offered kindness without expecting anything in return.
So he helped her. He brought her under his protection. Step by step, he helped her obtain revenge.
Together, they destroyed every enemy who had wronged her. Yet during that process, he discovered something unexpected.
The woman standing beside him was far stronger than anyone imagined. Even after suffering countless hardships, her mischievous nature remained unchanged.
She was cunning but protective of her loved ones.
Sometimes ruthless, sometimes gentle, and sometimes frighteningly cold and indifferent.
Every side of her fascinated him. Every side of her became something he loved.
Whether it was her desire for revenge, her intelligence, her appearance, her determination, or even her darker side... he loved all of it.
And that was why the answer had always been obvious. Even without memories of his previous life... Even if another person possessed similar qualities... Even if fate changed entirely... The person he would eventually fall for would still be Lana.
Only Lana.
Meanwhile, completely unaware of his thoughts, Lana looked at him mischievously.
Then suddenly, she ran.
Lucian blinked. Then laughed.
"You really need to be taught a lesson."
He slowly followed her. As he passed a mirror, however, he paused.
His gaze shifted toward his reflection. The next second, he became speechless.
His neck was completely covered with red marks.
There were so many love bites that it almost looked as though he was wearing a red collar.
Even Lucian couldn’t help chuckling. Soon, he arrived outside Lana’s room.
The door was firmly shut. A suspicious silence greeted him.
Lucian knocked. "Lana."
No response. A smile appeared on his face. "Come out."
The room remained silent.
"If you don’t come out, don’t blame me for whatever consequences happen afterward."
Immediately, Lana’s voice sounded from inside. "I’m busy!"
A pause followed. "And sleepy! Just leave me alone!"
Lucian nodded. "Sure."
Lana immediately relaxed.
Then Lucian added, "But remember this."
His voice carried amusement. "Tomorrow, you’ll have to pay the price."
Lana heard his retreating footsteps.
A victorious grin appeared on her face.
She knew exactly how to handle him.
As long as she acted pitiful enough, Lucian would eventually forget all about her mischief.
Honestly, she felt incredibly proud of herself.
Thinking about her masterpiece on Lucian’s neck, she nearly burst into laughter again.
Eventually, she threw herself onto the bed.
The mattress welcomed her tired body.
Within minutes, she drifted into a peaceful sleep.
The next morning, Lana headed toward the university as usual.
After her lecture ended, she packed her belongings and prepared to leave.
However, before she could do so, someone approached her.
The figure looked familiar. When Lana looked up, she immediately recognized the person.
The man wore a helpless smile. Meanwhile, Lana raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing here?"
Declan was one of the people responsible for issuing missions from the Mission Hall.
Because of that, Lana had interacted with him quite frequently over the past few months.
Although they weren’t particularly close friends, they shared a good professional relationship.
That was precisely why Lana was surprised when Declan personally came looking for her after class.
Declan stopped in front of her. "Lana, I need a favor."
Lana blinked. "A favor?"
Declan nodded immediately. "In return, I’ll give you a very generous reward."
His serious tone instantly piqued Lana’s curiosity.
She crossed her arms. "Tell me about it first. If it’s within my capabilities, I’ll definitely help."
A look of relief flashed across Declan’s face.
Without wasting any time, he began explaining the situation.
As it turned out, his niece had become possessed by a powerful demon.
Not only that, but many mystic cultivators whom he had approached had outright rejected the case.
The more Lana listened, the more serious her expression became.
When Declan finally finished, she frowned. "Why didn’t you ask Uncle Axel to handle it?"
After all, Axel was significantly stronger than most ordinary mystic cultivators.
If he stepped in, dealing with a possession case should have been relatively simple.
The moment Axel’s name was mentioned, Declan’s face immediately became bitter.
He looked at Lana helplessly. "You’re the only person close to Axel."
Lana paused.
Declan sighed deeply. "Axel doesn’t care about anyone else."
The corner of Lana’s lips twitched.
Unfortunately... she couldn’t even deny it.
