Chapter 410 Save
Chapter 410 Save
While Aizen asserts that his Kanzen Saimin is flawless and cannot be evaded even if one knows it is coming, his voice filled with intellectual smugness,
Gin Ichimaru expresses amazement at him using a Hadō in the 90s range without an incantation and questions when Aizen achieved this, his smile never wavering, only for Aizen to downplay this feat since he was unable to summon even a third of the destructive potential of Kurohitsugi, a consequence of such high-level spells being unwieldy, and grasps Rukia Kuchiki by the collar around her neck once more as Gin lets go, the focus returning to the main prize.
Aizen apologizes to Ichigo for having his explanation interrupted and prepares to resume.
Suddenly, the other Ryoka begin running up to Ichigo in concern, their voices a worried chorus, but stop when he frantically warns them to not come closer and look over the three captains in shock, the sight of the carnage stopping them cold.
When Orihime Inoue calls out to Rukia, her voice a plea, Gin steps in front of the latter and asserts that they should not come closer before exerting his Reiatsu, a crushing wave of spiritual pressure that felt like being submerged in concrete, which causes Orihime and Uryū Ishida to collapse, startling Yasutora Sado, while Ganju Shiba is left incredulous by the sheer, paralyzing force of Gin's Reiatsu.
Smiling at this, a cold, empty gesture, Aizen picks up with his elimination of the Central 46 after Rukia was discovered in the Human World.
Seeing Rukia's shock at this, Aizen pulls her along, her body still limp, and theorizes that 4th Division Lieutenant Isane Kotetsu told her he killed the Central 46 after faking his own death, only to clarify that he killed them shortly after she was discovered and used Kanzen Saimin on the council chamber to make it appear as though the Central 46 were alive and in session before proceeding to recall how he, Gin, and Tosen hid themselves in the Central Underground Assembly Hall, where they issued orders as though they were the Central 46, starting with sending 6th Division Captain Byakuya Kuchiki and Lieutenant Renji Abarai to ensure Rukia's capture.
As he reveals he also ordered Rukia's Gigai be immediately returned for disposal to separate her from the humans, Aizen recalls how he decided to execute her with the Sokyoku in order to evaporate her soul and extract the Hōgyoku within, stunning Ichigo and Rukia further, the plan's cold perfection a sickening blow.
After observing they only left the Central Underground Assembly Hall open for a few hours before and after the two captains' meetings, Aizen concludes he faked his death and stayed inside after this while knowing the Ryoka might come to save Rukia.
With the Ryoka still paralyzed by Gin, Aizen notes that there are only two known ways to extract an object implanted within a Soul.
Detailing the two methods - evaporating the Soul by a powerful thermal disruption like the Sokyoku or tampering with the Soul's composition - Aizen observes that he needed a backup plan in case the execution failed and consulted the Daireishokairō, which contains all the knowledge and history of Soul Society, because he could study all of Urahara's research there and suspected that the secret to removing foreign objects implanted in Souls would be there since Urahara had developed the technology for implanting them to begin with.
After Aizen withdraws a small capsule from his haori and clicks it, the sound sharp and technical, six green, spear-like pillars of concentrated Reiatsu rise out of the ground around him and Rukia.
Aizen's right hand and arm turn green and become covered in lines, the spiritual energy coursing over his skin, and despite Ichigo's desperate protests, a raw, choked sound of failure, Aizen shoves his hand into Rukia's chest, the act shockingly brutal, causing the pillars to crackle with electricity, and retrieves the Hōgyoku from within, a small, glowing sphere.
Letting Rukia fall, her body now free of the immense burden, Aizen examines the Hōgyoku and comments on its small size as his hand and arm return to normal in a dissipating process, the green lines fading.
As Ichigo sees that the hole in Rukia's chest is shrinking, the regenerative power of her soul restoring itself, Aizen observes that the Soul itself remains undamaged by this process and praises, "As expected of Urahara technology, the man is a genius of spiritual science." Then, with a cold glance at the injured girl, "And now, there is also no need for you to exist."
While speaking, he holds Rukia aloft by her collar as he orders Gin to kill her, his voice a casual command to extinguish a life.
Upon hearing this, Gin stops exerting his Reiatsu on the Ryoka, the pressure instantly lifting, and turns around as he holds up his Zanpakuto and releases his Shikai, Shinsō, the blade a frightening line of pure killing intent, causing the blade to extend toward Rukia's neck from behind.
Thud!!!
With a loud sword sound, a desperate, final intervention, those present were shocked and surprised when a still-bloodied Byakuya freed Rukia from Aizen's grasp, his own wounds bleeding anew, and intercepted Shinsō with his body to protect her, the blade piercing his shoulder instead of her neck.
After letting go of the blade, Byakuya collapses, his strength finally failing, as a stunned Rukia expresses concern for him, her voice filled with a mixture of confusion and renewed hope.
With Rukia asking Byakuya why he did this and repeatedly calling his name, the tears finally returning, a smiling Aizen approaches her and prepares to draw his Zanpakuto, only to stop and suddenly look up in surprise, his smile faltering for the first time.
From the sky above, the sound of tearing air preceding his arrival, Jidanbo Ikkanzaka falls toward Sokyoku Hill with Kūkaku Shiba on his shoulder, the latter of whom recites the incantation for and fires Hadō #63. Raikōhō at Aizen, the spiritual energy a concentrated blast of lightning, obscuring him with a large cloud of dust on impact, the sound a deafening roar.
