Chapter 405: Decision!
Chapter 405: Decision!
After watching Miss Silver Dragon's figure fade into the distance, Loren withdrew his gaze and turned, continuing to fly leisurely toward the City of Canbera.
Yesterday’s outing and last night’s fight had left him itching to find a quiet place where he could luxuriate in a proper bath.
"Staying up late isn't great for the skin! Security Bureau, you’ve offended me once more..." Loren muttered to himself.
At that moment, the Raven on his shoulder chimed in at the opportune moment.
"Master, judging by human physiological age, you are only twenty-three. Tomorrow is your birthday."
"A human Legendary powerhouse with a physiological age of twenty-three basically doesn't need to worry about skin issues."
"That conclusion still didn’t take into account your current physical strength."
"So, what you actually want is an excuse to vent your anger at the Security Bureau."
The corner of Loren's mouth twitched slightly.
He couldn't shake the feeling that this stupid bird had started talking more since he advanced to Legendary..."Raven."
"We should return to the Dusk Star Domain."
Loren ignored the Raven’s habitual jabs and instead said, with a calm expression, that seemingly ordinary sentence.
That single, exceptionally plain remark plunged the usually quick-tongued Raven into total silence...
Seeing the Raven stop talking, Loren shrugged unconcernedly and resumed his leisurely flight toward the City of Canbera.
Between man and bird, an odd, lingering quiet settled.
As Loren leisurely flew and was nearly at the edge of Canbera City, the Raven on his shoulder spoke again with some worry:
"In such a hurry, Master?"
"Tomorrow is still your birthday..."
At those words, Loren’s expression didn't change; leisure still lingered in his features.
"I've been waiting a long time..."
He was already a bit impatient...
Loren didn't voice the last sentence aloud, but the Raven understood his master's meaning.
Another stretch of silence passed between them.
After a while.
When Loren floated casually into the City of Canbera—now half its buildings gone— the Raven tentatively tried to persuade him again:
"How about... we wait until we become Demigods before returning?"
Its tone was anxious.
Once a Legendary powerhouse enters this vast Star Realm, they unexpectedly feel somewhat small.
Even a rule-system Legendary psychic isn't omnipotent...
Hearing the Raven’s cautious suggestion, Loren chuckled softly:
"Heh."
Smiling, he raised his left hand and gently stroked the Raven’s feathers on his shoulder with his fingertips, speaking in a tender tone:
"Raven, don’t worry."
"I’ll hold back a little..."
Silence fell again.
The Raven knew its idiot master had already made up his mind.
Like a stubborn wild bull.
Even if he looked calm on the surface, there burned in his eyes a fierce flame others could not understand.
Long after that.
Loren's figure descended discreetly and landed at the side of the "Illusionary Night's Dream" tavern halfway up the slope of Canbera City.
It was worth noting that most buildings on this street had been destroyed in last night’s chaos.
The whole street had been reduced to only this quiet little tavern still standing stoutly...
At that moment, a soft sigh came from Loren’s shoulder.
"Master, if Sister Mura is still alive, I think she wouldn’t want to see what you’re about to do..."
At those words, the hand Loren used to push open the Illusionary Night's Dream’s door hesitated for a moment.
The next instant, Loren’s big hand shoved the quiet tavern’s door wide open.
The tavern door swung back and forth.
"Raven."
"She is dead."
Loren’s tone was calm, devoid of any emotion, as if making the most ordinary of statements.
Hearing that, the Raven said nothing more.
Its form voluntarily retreated into the depths of Loren’s soul and entered Possession State...
"Welcome back, esteemed Mr. Destiny!"
A somewhat muffled voice rang out from behind the bar.
The strong, good-natured Minotaur bartender—Brute Bloodhoof—genuinely and sincerely welcomed Loren’s arrival.
Minotaur warriors have always worshipped the strong.
Besides, this particular powerhouse was, in name at least, their “shareholder boss”...
"Good morning, Mr. Bloodhoof."
"Please prepare for me a room with a bathtub."
"I think I need a bathtub to give me some special comfort."
Loren smiled as he stated his request, speaking with a playful charm.
"Ha ha!" The good-natured voice from behind the bar laughed.
"Mr. Destiny, you’re just in time!"
"I've got good news for you!"
"Last night, while you and that Demigod were fighting—"
"Unable to sleep, I quietly dug out a small hot spring deep beneath the tavern!"
"I hope you’ll be satisfied!!"
Loren’s eyes lit up instantly!
"Mr. Bloodhoof, that really is good news..."
His tone rose noticeably.
Clearly, a bath-lover like Loren was thrilled by the Minotaur’s surprise.
Born in the slums, he had always wanted to try what a hot spring felt like!
Caught up in his excitement, Loren completely ignored the odd questions hinted at in the Minotaur bartender’s tone...
and why a high-ranking Minotaur warrior would be unable to sleep and dig deep underground at midnight...
Seeing Loren so excited and oblivious to the hint, the “good-natured” Minotaur’s face grew even more stunned.
What?!
Mr. Destiny, won’t you ask why I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night?!
I hinted at it so obviously, and you didn’t respond?!
Ask me now!!!
Why was I digging deep underground at midnight!!!
If you don’t ask, how am I supposed to raise compensation?!
Your fight with that Demigod affected the tavern!!
I had to activate the highest-level defensive magical array! It cost a lot of Spirit Stones!!!
Mr. Destiny! Waaahhh!!
I’m just an honest Minotaur!! I have no money!!
I don’t want to cover the Spirit Stone cost for this defensive array with my year-end bonus!!
Unfortunately, no matter how the Minotaur roared inwardly, Loren—fully in “hot spring anticipation” mode—failed to notice the sorrowful expression on Bloodhoof’s face.
In the end.
With Brute Bloodhoof’s adorably pitiful gaze fixed on him, Loren walked eagerly toward the tavern’s shareholder lounge.
Leaving behind only a deep silhouette...
Behind the bar, the burly, good-natured figure pressed a troubled hand to his horns.
In an instant, his large eyes became dewy...
My year-end bonus...
But Mr. Destiny's aura is so terrifying, I don’t dare ask for compensation!!!
Someone save this poor Minotaur!!!
