Chapter 914 - 814: God Level Gem
Chapter 914 - 814: God Level Gem
"Let go of me!" The long and imposing great dragon chancellor cried out as he swerved through the silver sky.His scales glowed bright green and his horns reflected the same color on top of his head.
At the center of his massive head, embedded between his glowing horns, was a crystal gem that emitted a giant silver glow, setting it apart from the standard green all over the chancellor.
There was a horrifying vibe to the glow he had. Although he was a creature with the power of Vegetation, there was a sinister aura around him that spoke of a power that did more than grow plants.
Spinning his head to the back, the gigantic serpentine chancellor opened his mouth, exposing gums lined with razor-sharp white teeth.
He took a deep breath, causing the sides of his chest to expand, and then, he exhaled.
Without warning, a powerful jet stream of poisonous energy burst out of the depths of his throat.
The targets? They were two large lionesses that had been chasing after him before now.
On one side was an ordinary-looking lioness with lustrous fur and a pair of deep dark eyes.
Katari.
She was in her three-meter-tall lioness form, not being an inch taller. Against the beam of poisonous energy that was big enough to blow a hole through a planet, Katari was incredibly small right now.
Yet, with a cold ferocious look, she rushed forward. Because this chancellor was also an immortal like her, even stronger, she was extra careful.
Her body blurred, teleporting around the entire beam as she made her way to the chancellor.
On the other hand, her partner in battle, Diane, was doing something else entirely.
Diane, now the size of a small country, was heavily muscled and pressed with incredibly dense skin and bones. Her long smilodon-like fangs glistened with the reflection of a body that could crush anything.
With a mighty roar, Diane bashed into the stream of green energy, taking the poisonous power head on.
She did not do this because she was trying to look cool or anything. But because I was playing a tank role in this particular fight.
Some distance behind her was another battlefield with a lot of lions and goats fighting the imperial Guards of the Creation Dragon Empire.
If that beam of poisonous energy were to reach them, it would definitely decimate half of the fighting forces.
Diane didn’t particularly have a kind heart but she had combat awareness.
Those imperial guards were here to defend the imperial chancellor while the lions and goats were blocking them from interfering.
If she didn’t take the poisonous beam head on, she would be exposing her and Katari to unnecessary trouble.
Some of those imperial guards were Immortals and they would surely be able to cause a lot of stress for Katari and Diane if they were allowed to get close.
Using her massive head as a battering ram, Diane easily pierced through the poisonous beam.
However, she was not unscathed. Her fur started growing pale and turning to a grey shade. Beneath the aging fur, her pale skin was starting to be seen. Her bones were turning transparent and her . muscles were getting weaker.
Diane parted the poisonous beam, bashing through halfway before she began to lose her strength and speed.
She couldn’t keep up anymore.
How could she, the imperial chancellor was not a pushover. He was a mid-level immortal who had been alive way longer than they could imagine.
Although he was not usually drawn to conflict, he was fully capable of defending himself.
Supported by his wealth of magic items and vast experience, he was actually able to stand toe to toe with the two Avatar Consorts.
Another thing was that the Chancellor was in a defensive position. It wasn’t like he was trying to kill anyone.
These two had ambushed him and had pushed him to this level for the past week.
A cornered beast was far more dangerous than a hunting one.
The chancellor just wanted to survive, even if it meant killing these two consorts.
With all the power of the poisonous beam aimed at her, Diane was starting to lose strength.
Meanwhile, Katari had weaved her way out of the smaller streams of poisonous energy and had appeared instantly in front of the open jaws of the chancellor.
She swiped down, producing a planet-cutting slash that was aimed at dividing the chancellor into two.
Sensing the disturbance in space from the spores he had released earlier on, the chancellor was able to instantly tell that something life-threatening was heading his way.
The distance between him and Katari at this point was barely a few kilometers. Because he was so large, it appeared as if she was closer.
This also gave Katari a wide area to hit.
Alas, this was not the first time Katari had gotten so close.
In a blinding flash of silver, multiple constructs, manifested from the Essence of Creation, emerged out of the gem embedded at the center of the chancellor’s massive head.
Silver shields, silver swords, silver orbs, silver chains. Like a can full of bouncy snakes, they burst apart from the gem.
With efficiency that she had only seen from the All-King, Katari witnessed her spatial slash blocked and scattered as though it did not exist.
The power that burst from the gem defended the Chancellor and also chased after her.
Having experienced this before, Katari disappeared from her position, instantly creating distance between her and the chancellor.
At the same time, the chancellor was forced to stop spewing all those streams of poisonous energy, freeing Diane to recover and heal.
With no target to vent its energy, the gem retrieved all the silver constructs, exposing the chancellor once again to them.
Diane felt her muscles swelling and her bones becoming denser as she recovered her strength and expelled all the poisonous energy from her body.
Katari appeared beside her, standing elegantly in the empty void with her pair of black eyes still focused on the coiling green dragon.
Katari threw a glance at Diane from the corner. After seeing that the giant lioness was okay and healing properly, she looked away.
"How long do you think it will take before that gen runs out of power?" Diane asked as she took in deep breaths.
With every breath she took, she got bigger and stronger, getting ready for another round of battle.
"It won’t," Katari said, she had already come to a conclusion concerning this battle.
Normally, no fight should last this long for no reason. With both of them working together and using their Avatar Synergy, they should have been able to dispose of the chancellor on the first day.
Maybe the battle might have entered the second day if they factored in the deep ocean of power and immortality usually possessed.
But other than that, the only reason the chancellor was able to last this long against them over and over again was because of that gem on his head.
That gem was no ordinary object. It was a god-level artifact that allowed the user to tap into the power of a designated Primordial during life-threatening events.
The Imperial Chancellor was the second in command for the entire Creation Dragon Empire. He had a lot of authority and was second only to Emperor Zain.
Even the Supreme Level Immortal Dragon that was above Emperor Zain couldn’t command him without Emperor Zain’s approval.
He was that loyal.
And because of his loyalty, Emperor Zain allowed him to link this particular god-level artifact to him.
With this, the chancellor would be able to call on the power of the Primordial of Creation whenever his life was in danger.
The chancellor never thought he would use it until this war came.
It was astounding how he tended to use it dozens of times every single day since he started fighting.
It just meant that if not for the artifact, he would have died many times over.
"How do we get to him? If we let him go, he would be able to coordinate the whole army properly..." Diane began.
Katari shook his head, "Letting him go is not an option. But I also can’t afford to be locked in this battle with him."
She really couldn’t. Her skills were better used when she was actually eliminating key figures that could actually be eliminated.
But at the same time, if the chancellor was allowed to go, it would be hard to get to those key figures.
Just as the two of them were thinking of calling the other Consorts, something happened.
A Dimensional System Portal opened in front of Diane, stunning her.
Katari narrowed her eyes, sensing the arrival of her beloved.
Diane’s mouth widened into a toothy grin and Katari crouched lower.
One hundred golden figures appeared, standing tall and majestic with an overflowing aura of Majesty.
A cascade of terrifying roars shook the world as the silver sky began to take on a golden shade.
