Chapter 524: [Crimson Inheritance] (43) - Silvanus... Silvanus... where are you? I really miss you...

Time inside the dungeon was always strange. Even though they seemed to have entered an entirely different space, the absurd flow of time showed no sign of changing.Almost in the blink of an eye, the next day had arrived, and with it came the evening of the grand ball.

Nick stood in the middle of a magnificent plaza where dazzling lights shimmered in every direction, outshining even the star-filled sky above. Red carpets stretched across every path, while vibrant flowers bloomed on either side.

At the center of the plaza stood an extravagant fountain. A beautiful goddess with enormous outstretched wings bathed beneath the cascading water, and behind it rose the true venue of the evening’s festivities—a grand theater.

Nick watched as young ladies and gentlemen continuously passed by. Every one of them wore meticulously tailored formal attire. The girls, in particular, floated gracefully in soft, billowing gowns. Each time they walked past, they left behind a different expensive perfume. Nick, however, wasn’t used to scents like these.

He rubbed the tip of his nose before glancing down at himself. Naturally, he was no exception. He, too, was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit. A stylist had even come that afternoon to do his hair and makeup.

Judging by how much care these students had put into their appearance, tonight’s lavish and formal ball must have held tremendous significance for the academy.

"Nick, we’ve cleared the way!"

Just then, his followers returned.

Nick’s body stiffened. After only a single day, there was no way his acting skills could have improved overnight.

All he could do was straighten his back, forcing his face into a cold, emotionless expression.

Lifting his chin, he frowned slightly. "Where’s Daisy? Did you see her in there?"

The follower seemed terrified of Nick. At the question, he immediately shrank back, stammering, "N-No... I-I didn’t... but I’ve already sent people to look for her! No matter what, Daisy will definitely dance with you tonight!"

Remembering the Daisy he had encountered outside, Nick couldn’t help but break out in goosebumps.

He wasn’t exactly looking forward to that either...

Nick clicked his tongue and strode into the grand theater, the ballroom where the evening’s banquet would be held.

Groups of guests had already gathered inside. The social divide was obvious at a glance.

Only the wealthiest students were allowed to remain in the very center of the ballroom. Fortunately, Nick was one of them.

Along with him were Daniel, Jax, Mia, Elya, and Silvanus.

What a familiar group of names. Among them, three were already dead.

Nick kept his expression neutral as the thought crossed his mind. His gaze quickly swept across the room, searching for Silvanus.

But it was pointless. He hadn’t arrived yet.

Nick could only steel himself and walk over to the crowd of figures that were impossible to tell apart as either monsters or humans.

The moment Jax saw him, he flashed a teasing grin.

"I heard Daisy’s going to be your dance partner tonight. Nice. How the hell did you get that stubborn woman to agree?"

Nick picked up a glass of champagne and curled the corner of his lips.

"I have my own methods. Besides, isn’t my charm enough to make her say yes?"

Jax immediately pulled a disgusted face.

Standing beside him, Mia frowned as she looked at them, her eyes dark and unreadable.

Elya suddenly laughed.

"Can we stop talking about Daisy? It looks like someone’s getting upset."

Her gaze drifted toward Mia. It was obvious who she was implying without having to say it outright.

Mia frowned at Elya.

"Do you really think I care that much about her?"

Elya merely smiled without replying, simply because she didn’t like Daisy either.

Just then, Daniel suddenly wrapped an arm around Mia’s waist and looked at Nick with a smile.

"But would Nick really ask Daisy to be his dance partner because he likes her? If I remember correctly, after Daisy rejected your confession in the cafeteria last time, you deliberately got her lost in the forest, didn’t you?"

Nick: "..."

So the "me" in this world was really that cruel?

He parted his lips, about to deny it, when he suddenly felt the air grow noticeably colder.

The sound of footsteps gradually faded away, yet the cheerful laughter and conversations around them remained strangely distinct.

Looking ahead, the smiles on everyone’s faces suddenly became unsettling.

It was as though they could open their mouths at any moment, transform into ravenous monsters, and lunge forward to tear him apart.

Their eyes remained fixed on him, filled with intense scrutiny.

Nick couldn’t help but remember Silvanus’s warning—not to act against his assigned role...

"Hahaha! Hahahaha!"

Nick suddenly burst into loud laughter. He wasn’t even sure how painfully stiff and forced it sounded.

Under everyone’s unwavering stares, he raised his voice.

"Do you really think I’d let that girl off so easily? Of course I invited her. It’ll just make it more convenient to make her suffer."

The moment Mia heard that, her eyes lit up.

She knew it. Daisy deserved nothing less than to be trampled into the ground.

She smiled brightly at Nick.

"That’s more like it. You don’t have to worry about teaching Daisy a lesson anymore. Just sit back and enjoy the show later. I’ve already prepared everything."

Nick: "..."

"I guarantee she’ll disappear from our sight forever!" Mia said, each word squeezed through clenched teeth.

Nick instinctively swallowed, his grip on the champagne glass tightening ever so slightly.

Just then, shouting suddenly echoed from outside.

"Move! Hurry up! You’ve already kept Nick waiting long enough. You’re lucky we haven’t taught you a proper lesson yet!"

"Such a pretty face, what a waste of that attitude. You’d be much better off if you just learned to behave. Hahaha!"

Nick’s followers had finally returned.

Dragging someone along with them.

Who else could it be but Daisy?

Daisy was shoved forward, stumbling several steps before barely managing to steady herself. Her chest rose and fell rapidly from struggling against them.

At the same time, the surrounding students instinctively stepped back, forming a wide circle around her and Nick’s group.

Looking at Daisy standing across from him, Nick silently lit a candle for her in his heart.

Silvanus... Silvanus... where are you? I really miss you...
