Chapter 469: I Got Here First!

"W-What’s this?" Claire blinked, her expression shocked. "Devour? Your Majesty, how could His Majesty do such a thing?"In the half-elf girl’s memory, the handsome Emperor was always kind and caring towards everyone.

Although her understanding had been updated through Eriri’s guidance, she already knew about certain fundamental truths. For example, every ruler truly cared only about those who could maintain their reign, and wouldn’t genuinely solve the problems of the common people.

Claire fell silent. She admitted Ashley was right; the man had truly treated her as family. Compared to the half-elf children of the heads of other families, her childhood and youth were like living in paradise.

"Why?"

"You, Ashley..." Claire’s cheeks gradually turned red, both embarrassed and angry. "What are you even talking about?!"
