Chapter 510 - 486: Wedding Day (Part 1)

Chapter 510 - 486: Wedding Day (Part 1)

On the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, commonly known as Lantern Festival, people eat glutinous rice balls, enjoy lanterns, set off fireworks, and guess lantern riddles... When this day is over, the new year is officially over, so everywhere is lively and festive. The sky had not yet fully brightened, and the world was still shrouded in cold. Outside an unassuming yet incredibly valuable old courtyard house near Serene Lake, a lineup of luxury cars with rare license plates was already parked.

The luxury cars formed a row along the roadside, and each car’s hood featured a heart-shaped wreath made of fiery red roses, with large red "double happiness" characters pasted on them.

The lead wedding car was a limited edition, extended Rolls-Royce Phantom. Once you sat inside and looked up, you could see the starry sky.

The hood of the wedding car was also covered with roses, and at the front, two soft toy cats stood. The male cat in a suit was holding the white-furred bride cat in a wedding dress in its arms, looking sweet and lifelike.

Gage Grant jumped down from the driver’s seat of the extended Phantom, tugging at his well-cut, expensive suit with a distinguished yet noble demeanor, and then raised his hand to exhale forcefully.

Logan Lockwood got out of a standard Phantom behind him and called out to Gage Grant, "Didn’t go home to sleep last night?"

Gage Grant flashed a wicked grin, raising his hand to smooth back the gelled hair on his head, saying lightly, "No work today, so why go home to sleep?"

Logan Lockwood knew right away he’d been out chasing girls again. He leaned in with a sleazy smile, "Whose warm little nest did you sleep in last night?"

Gage Grant glanced at the dark, old Grant Family house next to the Forrester Family home, confirming that his old man hadn’t gotten up yet and wouldn’t hear him talk. Then he let loose with Logan Lockwood on some uncensored banter.

"Leo’s wife’s band recently got a new cellist—wow, she’s really my type!"

Logan Lockwood was intrigued, "What kind of woman could make Fourth Young Master Grant, who’s been in love for twenty years, so obsessed?"

"Check it out! Like this." Gage Grant took out his phone, opened the photo album, "Long hair, big eyes, fair skin, devilish figure, wearing an elegant long dress..."

Logan Lockwood was just about to take a closer look when the phone screen suddenly went dark.

Gage Grant slipped the phone back into his pocket, clearly not wanting anyone to see it.

Logan Lockwood scoffed, "I hope you can’t catch her!"

Gage Grant chuckled, "If I can’t catch her, I’ll just find someone else. So many girls, why hang myself on one tree?"

As they joked around, Jack Hawthorne, Tobias Blackwood, Harrison Rowe, Thomas Reed, Rhonda Wagner, Gavin Gale, Ronan Grant, and others started getting out of the cars behind them.

Gage Grant put away his nonchalant grin, squinted at the number of cars and the members of the procession, realizing someone was missing but couldn’t remember the name. So he furrowed his charming brows and asked Harrison Rowe, "Hey, Harrison, isn’t your new director here yet? What’s their name again?"

Harrison Rowe also looked around the male members of the wedding party, realizing Evan Chaucer was indeed missing, quickly said, "Director Chaucer was working overtime until midnight last night, might have overslept. I’ll give him a call."

With that, he went off to make a call.

Getting up at night to feed the baby, waking up before dawn, and only sleeping less than three hours all night, Jack Hawthorne was pretty cranky and grumbled impatiently, "It’s so cold, how long do we have to wait? If it’s too long, I’m going back to the car to catch some sleep!"

Just as he finished whining, Harrison Rowe ran back, saying, "Director Chaucer is on the way, about ten minutes out, everyone hold tight!"

Jack Hawthorne was still displeased, and turned to sit back in the car.

The rest dispersed as well, returning to their cars to keep warm and catch a nap.

Ten minutes later, a red Rolls-Royce Ghost pulled up at the end of the car line. The ten-car wedding procession was finally complete.

Harrison Rowe was the first to get out to greet his director.

Aiden Chaucer, looking groggy, his tie askew, was promptly assisted by Harrison Rowe who adjusted it for him.

The others got out as well, each adjusting their hair, suits, watches, and ties, making sure they were presentable, before forming a row and marching neatly towards the Forrester Family’s main house door.

At this time, the sky was just beginning to lighten up, not too bright yet, slightly dim.

This wedding party of young talents, who were working late, taking care of babies, chasing girls, or hungover last night, now yawning incessantly, with dark circles under their eyes, were so well-dressed they otherwise might have been mistaken for a group of addicts.

So much that Elder Forrester opened the door, and was taken aback by these listless young fellows, hurriedly inquired, "Did you all become thieves last night?"

Jack Hawthorne reacted the quickest, "Nah," he said lazily, "my kid is almost five months old and still doesn’t sleep through the night. I have to get up twice a night to feed, worn me out so much in half a year, I’ve aged ten years..."

Elder Forrester perked up, "Oh, little Hawthorne has a son?"

Jack Hawthorne proudly affirmed, "That’s right! He looks just like me!"

Elder Forrester’s eyes lit up in delight and envy, pulling out a red envelope from his pocket and handing it to Jack Hawthorne.

Gage Grant, seeing this, was envious, "Grandpa Forrester, I’m the best man today, did you give the wrong person a red envelope? Are your glasses not strong enough?"

Elder Forrester gave him a dismissive glance, "Little Hawthorne has a son, do you? When you have a son, I’ll give you a red envelope too!"

Gage Grant protested, "Is that how it is?"

Jack Hawthorne quickly dragged him aside, inviting the others in first. Once they had gone, he whispered to Gage Grant, "Stop fussing! I’ll split the red envelope with you later, okay?"

Gage Grant shrugged off his hand, adjusting his suit again, "Do I care about the red envelope? I care about why are they picking on people like me who don’t have sons?!"

He turned and strode towards the Forrester Family’s main house, continuing to complain as he walked, "Oh? Are they picking people based on sons now? I’ll turn around and have one too! Having a son! Who can’t do that?"

.

The three best men, along with seven other handsome guys helping with the wedding, made up a ten-person wedding party.

At first, they waited in the inner courtyard for Simon Forrester, but after a while, the cold got to them. Each over thirty, some feared the cold, others weren’t wearing long johns, some were health-conscious. So before long, they all huddled into the living room.

Elder Forrester was commanding the servants on this and that in the living room. Seeing them come in, he promptly called Ronan Grant over.

Gage Grant expressed his discontent again, intending to reiterate he was the chief best man, only to see Elder Forrester pulling Ronan Grant over, asking, "Ash, is your zodiac sign Dragon?"

Ronan Grant nodded vacantly.

Elder Forrester reached into his pocket again, pulling out another red envelope and handed it to Ronan Grant, saying, "Here, Ash, sit on this chair for ten seconds and then get up."

Gage Grant thought there were more red envelopes and squeezed in.

At that moment, Ronan Grant just got up from the chair, with a red envelope clutched in his hand.

Gage Grant protested once more, "Grandpa Forrester! Why does Ash get a red envelope and I don’t? Ash doesn’t have a son either!"

Elder Forrester asked him, "What’s your zodiac sign?"

Gage Grant: "I’m an Ox."

Elder Forrester: "Ash is a Dragon!"

Gage Grant: "So what about being a Dragon?"

He called out to Jack Hawthorne and Tobias Blackwood who were also Oxen, "You two say something, yeah? Someone seems to be looking down on us Oxen!"
