Chapter 582 - 553: It’s a Daughter

Chapter 582 - 553: It’s a Daughter

Simon Forrester and his wife returned to The Fenmore Villa, and it was already eight in the evening. They had reached the airport past ten in the morning, but due to the New Year’s rush for tickets, they couldn’t buy a direct flight. After a layover in Riverbend, they only managed to reach Brimfield by six in the evening after a long day of travel.Sienna Thornton was exhausted, both tired and nauseous. She took a shower and went to rest. Simon Forrester cooked dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, and then sorted out the souvenirs they brought back from Norport, along with their luggage and dirty clothes. By the time he showered and went to bed, it was already midnight.

Knowing they had to visit the old residence the next morning to face Old Master Forrester’s lectures, Simon didn’t dare to stay up late. He was also quite tired and quickly fell asleep.

The next day, Simon and Sienna carried gifts bought from Norport to the Forrester Family’s old residence to get a talking-to.

On the way, Sienna repeatedly told Simon not to mind the elderly Old Master Forrester’s words, to just listen and not argue back due to his old age.

Simon initially agreed readily, but as soon as they entered the house, his face fell after hearing a few words from Old Master Forrester. Sienna kept giving him signals, yet he remained unmoved.

Seeing his grandson act as if he were aggrieved after an absence of half a month, Old Master Forrester’s anger surged. He wanted to scold loudly but was held back by the presence of his granddaughter-in-law, afraid of diminishing his grandson’s authority. He was left fuming and helpless.

Watching the love-hate dynamic between the grandfather and grandson, who refused to back down, and seeing Old Master Forrester so angry his blood pressure seemed to skyrocket, Sienna worried about the old man’s health and explained on Simon’s behalf, "Grandfather, there’s a reason Simon hasn’t been to work these past two weeks..."

Old Master Forrester glared at his grandson, giving a resentful side-eye and snorted, "The reason is he’s too playful and doesn’t love his work. What other reasons could there be?!"

Simon looked at him indignantly. "Yes, I haven’t been at the company, but I didn’t neglect any business, did I? When you were the chairman, didn’t you hang around at home and only went out for business when necessary? Why can’t I do the same? Such double standards!"

"Back then, Bianca was still overseeing everything! Now it’s just you! If you’re not there, those people will go wild!"

Mentioning Bianca wasn’t good; it reminded Simon how she, with Steven Chapman and others, had embezzled billions from The Forresters. When the matter was exposed, the old man wanted to protect his daughter and didn’t allow Simon to pursue the issue.

Such a huge sum, how could he not feel bitter? As the old man mentioned it now, all his resentment came flooding back, burning fiercely, waiting to see who would become its target.

Seeing the situation devolve, Sienna immediately held Simon’s hand, shook her head, signaling him not to say more about Bianca.

Simon took a deep breath, took out his phone, and temporarily suppressed his anger.

The tea set on the coffee table was still dry. The grandfather and grandson were too engrossed in their confrontation to even steep the tea.

Sienna scooped some tea leaves into the teapot, added piping hot water. The green tea leaves swelled and tumbled in the white jade porcelain cup. She washed the tea set methodically, and finally, a cup of bright green hot tea was served to Old Master Forrester sitting on the grand chair.

"Grandfather, please have some tea to refresh," she smiled at the old man, "Simon didn’t go to the company these past half-months because I wasn’t feeling well..."

Simon realized she was about to tell Old Master Forrester about the pregnancy and stopped her, "Don’t!"

Old Master Forrester had just taken the tea and immediately thought his granddaughter-in-law was seriously ill, hiding it to avoid worrying him. His breath caught in his throat, and even when the hot tea scalded his hand, he didn’t care: "Annie, are you sick? Is it serious?"

Sienna sat back beside Simon, instinctively protecting her abdomen with one hand and holding Simon’s hand with the other, whispering, "Just vomiting badly..."

Old Master Forrester noticed the understanding look on his grandson’s face, glanced at Sienna’s hand protectively covering her stomach, thought for a moment, and it all clicked. He was overjoyed, his smile broadening.

The old man stared at his granddaughter-in-law’s belly for a while, looking pleased and happy as he glanced between his grandson who, though absent, was about to bring a great-grandchild to the Forrester family, completely forgetting his anger.

"How many months?" the old man snapped out of his thoughts, smiling at his granddaughter-in-law, "Why didn’t you call me earlier?"

"Two months."

"Already two months? Oh dear, oh dear!" The old man took out the old calendar from the drawer, put on his reading glasses, moistened his thumb, and started flipping through, "When’s the due date?"

Sienna didn’t answer this time, nudging Simon with her elbow, wanting to use this opportunity to get him to reconcile with the old man.

"August 8th."

Though Simon still held a stern expression, when it came to discussing his child’s due date, a smile crept onto his lips, and his tone toward Old Master Forrester wasn’t as harsh.

Old Master Forrester had always had a fondness for the number eight and was greatly exhilarated to hear that his great-grandchild’s due date was August 8th. The speed at which he flipped through the old calendar quickened, and upon finding the right page, he scrutinized it and muttered, "Year of Gui Mao, month of Geng Shen, day of Wu Xu... Good omen! It’s an excellent day!"

After a while, he closed the aging calendar. The old man gazed at his grandson and granddaughter-in-law for a long time before smiling and saying, "But it might not be born on the due date, Jules was born a week late."

Seeing the old man take it easy, Sienna felt relieved.

After a while, the old man cheerfully asked the granddaughter-in-law, "Did you inform Dean Thorne about this?"

"He knows."

"Good, good."

As he said this, it seemed the old man suddenly remembered something, taking another old book from the drawer. As he flipped through it, he said, "Our Forrester Family branch in Chendar, Hebria Province, should have the generational naming of... ’Huai’ in your child’s generation!"

As the old man spoke, he suddenly stood up, called out, "Let’s go to the study!" He was apparently going to grind ink and choose a name for the baby.

Sienna glanced at Simon, said nothing, and was about to stand up when Simon lazily said, "No need to trouble yourself, I’ve already picked out the name."

"What have you named?"

"You’ll know once the birth registration is complete."

Displeased, Old Master Forrester sank back into his grand chair, his enthusiasm thwarted, remained silent for a long time. Finally, he compromised, "You can name your son, but you should follow the generational naming convention."

Son?

Sienna: "..."

Simon smiled faintly, "Who said it’s a son? We’re having a daughter."

Old Master Forrester was shocked, "Did you check the gender?"

Sienna was about to say no, wondering how it was possible, it’s the first child, why check gender? Unexpectedly, Simon nodded seriously with an air of authority, "It’s a daughter."
