Chapter 666 - 637: Have You Ever Loved?
The woman’s voice sounded quite mature: "Simon Forrester’s grandson went crazy tonight! He bit your dad fiercely, beat him so bad he couldn’t even stand up!"After a moment of silence, the man asked, "Why would Jules beat the old man for no reason? The old man must’ve done something nasty..."
The woman growled, "Are you insane? Your dad got beaten up like that and you’re siding with Simon Forrester’s grandson?"
"Is this your first day knowing the old man? You’ve had four sons with him and you still don’t know what kind of person he is?..."
Seth Sutton figured it out, it was Gage Grant and Mrs. Grant discussing how Zachary Grant got beaten by Simon Forrester. Listening to Mrs. Grant, it really matched her character of being blindly protective.
Seth Sutton didn’t feel like listening anymore, he turned to leave, but the door opened at that moment. Gage Grant with a red mark on his face came out in large strides and bumped right into him.
Gage Grant looked at him, closed the door with his backhand, and lowered his voice: "Want to talk for a bit outside?"
Seth Sutton signaled with an OK gesture.
The two of them left the Grant Family’s old house and stood at the street side.
Gage Grant offered a cigarette, Seth Sutton took it, placed it between his lips, pulled out a lighter from his pocket, lit Gage’s cigarette first, then lit his own.
Gage Grant took several puffs, waiting for his mind to clear and feel a bit of pleasure before squinting his eyes and asking, "After I was taken away that night, what happened afterward?"
Seth Sutton didn’t want to gossip behind people’s backs, exhaled smoke and said, "I was sitting inside the whole time, I don’t know what happened outside."
"Do you know why Jules fought with my dad?"
"No idea."
Seeing Seth Sutton wasn’t saying anything, Gage Grant impatiently waved his hand, "It’s too late, go back! Don’t wander outside all the time, spend more time with Mina."
Seth Sutton didn’t respond, kept the cigarette in his mouth, and turned to get into the car. As the car started, rock music blared inside the small cabin.
He swayed to the rhythm, nicotine soothing his nervous system, feeling quite comfortable.
However, returning to the marital home in the New District, as soon as he got out of the elevator, before reaching the door, he felt uncomfortable again.
He placed his thumb on the fingerprint lock, with a "click," the door opened. The voice-activated light in the entrance lit up automatically. He tossed the car key into the key basket on the entryway cabinet, kicked off his leather shoes, and changed into slippers as he prepared to enter the house.
"Hah!"
Suddenly seeing Mina Thorne dressed in white sitting cross-legged on the sofa, staring at him with a resentful look, Seth Sutton was startled.
"Why aren’t you sleeping, who are you trying to scare?" He irritably headed toward the stairs.
Mina Thorne threw the pillow in her hand, hitting his waist: "Is it that wherever she is, you can’t move your feet?"
That night, when Zachary Grant apologized publicly to Sienna Thornton in the banquet hall, she couldn’t stand it. At that time, she asked Seth Sutton to go home with her, but he refused, his eyes glued to Sienna and unable to move away.
She admitted that even without makeup, in the simplest black outfit, Sienna Thornton was unbelievably beautiful, but seeing her husband staring so brazenly at another woman, she was still hurt.
She went home alone, sat in the dark and thought for more than three hours.
Her father was taken by that mother and daughter; her husband admired that woman; she had nothing left... she felt like it was all meaningless.
"Why are you acting crazy?" Seth Sutton threw the pillow back at her. It hit the sofa beside her and bounced back to the coffee table.
Seth Sutton stormed up to her, grabbed her wrist, pulling and dragging her into the bathroom: "Look at yourself now! Your face is always sullen, I’m already putting up with you, what more do you want?"
"Seth Sutton..." She looked at the young and handsome face of the man in the mirror with great sorrow, "Let me ask you one last time, have you ever loved me?"
Seth Sutton was almost driven mad, letting go of her, frustratedly scratching his head, and went upstairs.
She chased after him in tears.
The man was in the master bedroom’s closet undressing, preparing to take a shower, she followed him in, grabbing his hand: "If you just tell me that you’ve never loved me, I..."
"What then?" Seth Sutton turned around, stepping closer to her.
His strong body approached, with a strong aura surrounding her. She looked at his devilishly handsome face that left her defenseless, suppressing her breakdown with tears, calming herself: "If you haven’t loved me, then I want a divorce."
Seth Sutton was taken aback, apparently not expecting her to say that, a mocking smile appeared at the corners of his lips: "If I hadn’t loved you, why would I be with you? Do you think I’m that kind of casual person?"
I loved you, but because I didn’t know how to continue loving you, we’ve ended up where we are today.
But he didn’t voice this, turning into the bathroom.
...
That night, the Forrester couple picked up their child from The Springs Residences, and the family returned to Fenmore Hill.
As they were all going back to work the next day and Melinda Linton’s health was still unstable, they asked Sylvia Langley to help watch the child for a bit longer.
Victor Chaucer was now over seven months old, at his most adorable and playful stage, and with her godson coming over tomorrow, Sylvia was more than happy to stay and help with the child.
Simon Forrester asked her to stop posting selfies with the nanny on social media, she ignored him, and he had no choice but to ask her to block Zane Forrester when she did post, which she gladly accepted, picking up her phone and swiftly blocking Zane Forrester.
Life went on peacefully for a few days. After Sienna Thornton returned to work, she temporarily set aside the unpleasantness of that night. Her state was decent enough, as work was busy, and taking care of the child left her no time to think about it.
The day before the Lantern Festival, Zachary Grant suddenly made both the news and newspapers, because he would be transferred to take up a position in the Western Army, while Kevin Chaucer’s father would be transferred back to the Northern Army. The news showed images and words reporting that the leaders of the two major military districts had already completed the handover ceremony.
When the seven o’clock news broadcasted this, Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton were having dinner, while Sylvia Langley held the child by their side.
The couple exchanged knowing glances, said nothing more, and only when they got back to their room did Sienna Thornton ask, "Was Zachary Grant’s transfer to the Western Army because of what happened that night?"
"Yes."
Simon Forrester was in the bathroom preparing a washcloth to clean the child’s face and hands, Sienna Thornton followed in with the child, asking, "Zachary Grant has been in charge of the Northern Army for decades, his base and connections are all in the north, how is it possible for him to agree to go to the Western Army?"
"Because Thornton made it clear that night. If Zachary Grant wasn’t dealt with, he would have made sure Zachary would fall from grace the next day."
So it was Zachary Grant’s compromise. After all, compared to becoming a prisoner, the Western Army was already a paradise.
Sienna Thornton understood but became worried again: "Will the Grant Family come after you and my father in the future?"
