Chapter 868: Share Some Money [GT Ranking Bonus - ]
The crowd could only watch in stunned silence. To them, Asher truly deserved the name: The Dominator. He possessed a certain ease and calmness with which he defeated everyone, and they fucking loved it every single time.Nobody blamed Theodore for giving up. Although he was the first to lose through a forfeit, to them, that was the smart choice. While the boy could heal endlessly as long as he had money, it didn’t mean he enjoyed the suffering and futility that came with it.
"ASHER!!!"
"THE DOMINATOR!!!"
"THE ECLIPSER!!!"
"WE LOVE YOU!!!"
"CRUSH THAT BUDDHA’S FACE!!!"
"BITCH SLAP ARIANNA!!!"
"CURB STOMP ISAAC!!!"
As the crowd cheered for Asher’s victory, they also added a few outrageous requests, causing Asher’s calm expression to almost crumble. The deafening chants rolled through the enormous arena in endless waves, refusing to die down even after the battle had already ended. He simply shook his head as he prepared to return to his floating throne.
He paused for a moment before turning toward Theodore and speaking. "That’s an overpowered ability you’ve got there, by the way," he said calmly as he began to float into the air.
Theodore Elox stood stunned, having never expected such words from a Wargrave. Personally, he already knew just how overpowered his ability was. He didn’t need to train, per se. Ninety percent of what he had to do was simply make enough money to support his ability, which, by default, he already possessed.
"Thank you, Tenth Sun," Theodore replied with a smile.
Asher simply nodded before flying away. He wasn’t someone who kept quiet when he saw something he genuinely appreciated. If he praised someone, it was because he sincerely believed their ability deserved recognition. Although Asher also knew that if he had reincarnated with Theodore’s ability, then the Wargraves’ pocket might as well become a family of commoner in a couple years.
After all, Theodore’s opening attack had already cost one million platinum coins, and he had later escalated to an attack worth fifty million platinum coins. How many Noble Houses could spend that much money without batting an eye? None. Even Emperors would cough blood if they lost such an amount.
But the Elox Bloodline was simply too wealthy. Even rich people like the Overlord, Azaron, and the rest seemed like starving children when compared to the sheer scale of the Elox family’s fortune accumulated over olden generations.
Everyone knew that if the Elox family were wiped out today, the economic repercussions would ripple across all Four Empires. Their financial influence extended into countless industries and trade routes, making them indispensable to the stability of the world’s economy.
Theodore turned to leave the battlefield, but the next moment, he paused as numerous loud chants echoed from the spectators.
"HEY, KID! HOW ABOUT SHARING SOME MONEY LIKE YOUR FATHER?" one man screamed at the top of his lungs at the thought of free money.
"WE’LL SETTLE FOR A HUNDRED MILLION PLATINUM COINS!" a woman shouted, her greed clearly deeper than that of a certain someone.
"DON’T WALK AWAY, KID! IT’S JUST POCKET CHANGE TO YOUR FAMILY!" another man shouted as he waved a flag bearing Theodore’s name.
Theodore’s lips twitched. Sure, he had a few billion platinum coins in liquid assets, but that money had been set aside solely to fuel his ability, not to throw away on enthusiastic fans. He could only pretend not to hear the crazy spectators. His money was, quite literally, his life.
---
Inside a luxurious viewing box, the Elox family sat together as they ate in calm silence. They had just watched the heir of their family get thoroughly defeated, yet none of them reacted much, as they had expected such an outcome.
"It seems the Tenth Sun is rather favorable toward our Elox family," the head of the Elox family, Jamal Elox, remarked as he calmly sipped his tea.
"Indeed. Allowing young Theodore to display a few of his abilities before eliminating him was a considerate gesture," an elder of the Elox family, who oversaw several of their business branches, added.
"I suppose we have Kimberley to thank for that," Harley Elox, Jamal’s wife, said.
Jamal nodded with a faint smile, "Indeed. It seems she has managed to establish some sort of connection with the Wargrave family, something that none of our previous family heads could accomplish. Not even I."
"I wonder if they’re merely friends... or if the Tenth Sun has begun developing feelings for my daughter, hence the consideration he showed Theodore," Harley speculated as she drifted into her own thoughts.
Jamal didn’t respond. While he certainly desired a connection with the Wargrave family, and it seemed Kimberley had unknowingly created one, he had absolutely no intention of using his daughter as a bargaining chip to achieve his ambitions. He simply wasn’t that kind of father, and he never intended to become one.
Kimberley’s lips twitched as she realized her family had completely misunderstood the situation. She didn’t dare claim to be Asher’s friend after spending only a few minutes with him. At best, she was merely an acquaintance, nothing more. But she also knew that if she tried to explain, her parents would simply assume she was being modest and proceed to overthink the matter even further.
Soon, the door to their luxurious viewing box opened, causing everyone’s attention to shift toward the entrance as they wondered who had interrupted them.
It was Theodore.
Kimberley stared at him briefly before smiling, "welcome back, loser."
Theodore glanced at his sister before replying without hesitation, "says the one who failed her Awakening three times."
He walked over to the side bar and poured himself a glass of alcohol. After the loss he had just suffered, he felt he deserved a drink.
"I’d rather be unawakened than be an awakener as weak as you," Kimberley shot back without missing a beat.
As Theodore emptied the glass in a single gulp and placed it back down, his attention returned to his loving sister, "to say such words, you first have to become an Awakener. Sadly, that’s still beyond your reach."
He walked over to the couch beside Kimberley and sat down without another word. Even now, the memory of Asher’s last kick lingered vividly in his mind, making him instinctively rub his temples in quiet frustration.
None of those present reacted to the exchange between the siblings. They all knew it was nothing more than their usual playful sibling banter. To anyone else, they might have sounded genuinely hostile, but the family had long since grown accustomed to their peculiar way of showing affection.
"So, how does it feel to get kicked by a Wargrave?" Kimberley asked after a brief silence.
Theodore sighed before replying, "don’t even make me relive the pain. I never want to fight someone from that overpowered family again." He let out another sigh before continuing, "I wonder how Acker Holloway will perform if the two of them end up facing each other."
Kimberley remained silent for a moment before answering. "Although I’m supposed to support the greatest genius of our Empire, I honestly don’t think his Buddha will even be able to save him. Especially after he eliminated the Tenth Sun’s brother. The Tenth Sun might decide not to show the restraint and mercy he showed you."
Theodore remained silent for a few moments before finally speaking. "Well, that’s his cross to carry, not ours. All we can do is sit back and enjoy the show."
"Indeed," Kimberley replied with a faint smile.
